GOVERNMENT SPENDING
May 13 2006, 1:57 PM EDT
i HAVE BEEN A REGISTERED REPUBLICAN FOR 56 YEARS, BUT HAVE BECOME TOTALLY FED UP AT THE OUTRAGEOUS PORK BARREL SPENDING BY CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS. I AM GREATLY DISAPPOINTED AT THE APPARENT LACK OF BACKBONE BY OUR PRESIDENT TO VETO A BILL, ANY BILL, FOR ANY AMOUNT, THAT MIGHT REFLECT POLITICAL COURAGE ON HIS PART. I THEREFORE CHANGE MY PARTY AFFILIATION TO INDEPENDENT, HOPEFUL THAT i CAN FIND SOME CANDIDATE, WHATEVER THEIR PARTY, WHO BELIEVES IN FISCAL DISCIPLINE IN SPENDING THE TAXPAYERS MONEY. 6  out of 10 found this valuable. Good luck with that. The reality in America is we have two choices. You can have people like Bill Frist or you can have people like Ted Kennedy. While you have every right to vote independent, it's a meaningless exercise because no third party has ever made a significant impact in policy. People like Ross Perot elected Bill Clinton. If you think Clinton did a better job than the first George Bush or that Clinton did a better job than Bob Dole would have done, then I encourage you to leave the Republican Party. I personally believe it's possible we may have never seen a 9/11 had Bush and/or Dole beaten the minority candidate Clinton. I agree with you that the Republican Congress has spent too much but electing a Democrat Congress (either by voting for Democrats or independents) will NOT reduce spending or pork projects. Just the opposite will be the effect.

I'm disgusted too. I'm starting to think that the only way to get their attention that we don't like the status quo is to vote them out this round. Really how much more damage could the other guys do at this point.

In New York the party forced out Bill Weld w/over a 50% approval rating for some candidate w/a 3% approval rating. Guess despite NY being #1 in the country in lost population my dear old party leaders wanted to ensure their pork barrel spending could continue. Now I have to vote Democrat for Governor. I'm tempted to call in the press on election day, write Registered Republican in bold sharpie on my voter ballot, and vote straight Dem's. I'd invite them to put it in the paper as a message. I couldn't be more disgusted.

If anyone believes this administration has done us so well, they really need to start paying attention to what is going on with world markets, and read some foreign commentary on the state of the American dollar. (Going deeper into debtor nation status for the Iraqi invasion helped get us here! btw, for 2000 I wanted McCain....if only....)

I think this missed the point. We're not talking about this administration. They cannot be reelected. It's time for Republicans to decide what kind of party we want for the future.

Hey pal, a lot of us 'feel your pain' - An old acquaintance (a real cowboy actually) once told an excited audience in a meeting; “you folks are swallowing Camels - and gagging on Flies". (I had to think on that one a bit). The (short and to the) point is; you are vowing to “baleout” because of a “costly” investment in turning the good ship ‘America’ around (and getting her back on the American course) – only to turn it all over to the new Demorat’s: Neocom Socialist movement, (i.e. in a forgotten past known as Democrats).?.

Please THINK beyond anger. I don’t think that’s where you want to see America go.

Anonym`ass. Your post varly smacks with the musk of a Demorat propaganda operative. Good grief! You gutter rats can’t do anything out in the open can you?

“- read some “foreign” commentary on the American economy” -

Gee! Last election you’all were saying: “Read it (here) in the rag NY Times!”. (not too much to read in the (socialist) Times tho, they’ve sort-of drifted off the economy rant – meaning that the economy must be looking good.

So NOW we gotta get it from - “foreign” – commentaries –. What – like maybe North Korea?

At least try to look sneeky. Grow a beard fella.

I agree with you , I am also sick and tired of pork barrel spending. Very little fiscal responsibility. I am a hard working retired veteran who has had enough of congressman, who do not have the backbone to vote no on pork barrel spending. Instead of just complaining about problems on capital hill. It is time for some one like my self to join the clause in fighting for the over taxed , over burden Americans. I am a candidate in the 3rd US congressional district in the State of Kentucky on the Republican ticket . My priorities are list below.

1. Biblically grounded
2. Progressive conservative
3. Republican

Merry Christmas
Be Blessed
