The Republican Party of the State of Washington has proposed abolishing the ius soli granted by the first sentence of Section 1 of Amendment XIV to the U.S. constitution.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

This would eliminate the problem of illegal aliens having "anchor babies". This provision is controversial, though; many of us Republicans are descended from immigrants who came and had children who easily became hard working Americans because of the right of ius soli.
