Andy Anderson - Iowa State House

Name: Andy Anderson

Campaign Website: GoAndy.us

Current Office/Occupation: Retired. Educator. Financial Planner. U.S. Army Veteran.

I have been a Cedar Rapids resident for the
better part of my adult life.
I served in the Iowa Army National Guard
and U.S. Army Reserves and retired after
33 years of service with the rank of Colonel.
My experiences have shown to me the
importance of accountability and responsibility.

I taught high school for six years and served
on the Linn-Mar Board of Education for
nine years, I have learned the difference
that responsible leadership can make in
young peoples' lives and the importance
of local control for schools.

Most recently, I retired after 28 years in
the pension and retirement planning field
where I assisted citizens in practicing frugal
budgeting and planning for tomorrow. I have
also worked extensively with city and county
government pension plans.

My wife Jane and I have been married for 37
years and have two sons, Matt lives in California
and Chad lives in Texas and they have become
the core of my campaign.

With your support, we can work together to
improve Iowa for our children and our future.

-Andy Anderson
My Priorities

Responsible Budget. As a retired financial planner, I understand the pressures of managing a budget. I know that the Legislature can fund important priorities, such as education and economic development that leads to better jobs, without raising taxes.

World-Class Schools and Education. Having been a classroom teacher and a former three-term member of the Linn-Mar Board of Education, I understand the importance of providing a quality education. For our children to be successful, we must ensure education dollars go directly to the classroom and the teacher.

Economic Development. I will be a strong advocate for job creation and economic development. The future of Cedar Rapids lies in providing good paying jobs for all of our citizens.

Affordable Healthcare. With the rising costs of healthcare, it is important that the State of Iowa not contribute to the out-of-control increases. By creating policies that make it easier for doctors to retain their own insurance, the cost for everone else will be held in check.

Quality of Life. The Quality of Life in Iowa is amongst the highest in the nation. To maintain these high standards we must continue to develop policies that will move Iowa in
the right direction.
